Mission

The Josefina Velázquez de León Archive is an independent digital project dedicated to celebrating and documenting the work of one of Mexico’s most prolific twentieth-century cookbook authors. Its purpose is to make information about her books easier to discover while honoring the cooks, communities, and regional traditions reflected in her publications.

How the Archive Grows

The archive grows as cookbooks, scans, bibliographic records, and other documented materials become available. Titles, publication dates, editions, and recipe sources are checked before they are presented as verified. Because Josefina’s books appeared in multiple editions, some bibliographic details may vary.

Preservation & Contributions

This project has received materials from private collectors who share an interest in preserving Josefina Velázquez de León’s culinary legacy. Their contributions help identify editions, document surviving copies, and expand the archive over time.

Collectors and readers are welcome to share photographs, scans, publication details, or other relevant materials. Contributions will be reviewed before they are added, and ownership or credit information will be recorded when requested.

This is an independent educational archive and is not affiliated with Josefina Velázquez de León’s estate, a university, or a national library. Bibliographic information may vary by edition.
